As Hugh Grant pointed out in his Love Actually speech, Britain may be a small country, but it’s a great one too. And I’m not talking about the Beatles or Harry Potter (there are many other blogs for that), but to its gaming presence.
According to Newzoo‘s last infographic, the UK is world’s #2 in iPad game spending and console gaming popularity. Here are some facts:
- There are almost 35 million gamers in the UK (total population is above 63 million people, according to the last census).
- 62% of all UK gamers spend money on or in games (only behind Germany and Canada).
- 7 out of 15 UK tablet gamers also play games on an Xbox 360.
For me, the most interesting aspect of this study is that it shows how the 4 screens (computer, smartphone, tablet/handheld and TV) and the market segments can coexist.
More information about the study can be found here.
